Historical Significance

Built in 1732 by Bajirao I, Shaniwar Wada was once the seat of Maratha power. Its seven-storeyed wooden palaces, fountains and audience halls saw alliances, intrigues and the famous cry that still echoes — 'Kaka mala vachva'.
